Condolence From: Bill & Mary Tacon, Phoenix, AZ
Condolence: Gene was a valued friend and neighbor for some 33 years. An avid fitness fanatic, and the only person I know who incorporated backwards running into his workout routine. We have many happy memories playing bridge with Gene and Carol as part of a local bridge group. Boy, those evenings could get very competitive at times, but they were always fun.

Gene was a pleasure to be around. We will miss you dear friend.

Condolence From: Scott Dickson, Westerville, OH
Condolence: I first met Gene briefly when his daughter Holly and my son Brett had a date for the high school Holly Prom.

We then became reacquainted 10 years later in our retirement and were like 2 peas in a pod for many things. We skied, played tennis and golf, and attended a lot of high school & OSU sports together. We had lots of science discussions - a passion for both of us.

As couples with our wives we played Euchre and had dinners together.

It’s sad - the effects of Parkinson’s. But I’ll always think of Gene from his many robust years.

We wish the best for Carol and her family.

Warm thoughts, Scott & Becky Dickson

Condolence From: Annie Marie Garraway, Worthington, Ohio
Condolence: My deepest condolences go to Gene's wife, Carol, daughters Amy and Holly and their families. I was a colleague of Gene's starting in 1980 at AT&T Bell Labs in Columbus. As a new employee I appreciated Gene's knowledge, experience, and clear and patient advice. After I retired, I saw Gene just once more - encountering him in Macy's at the Polaris Mall. We recognized each other right away, and it was a pleasure catching up on life after retirement. I will always remember him.

Condolence From: John Moosmiller, Westerville, Ohio
Condolence: I have many fond memories of Gene going back to 1983 when we shared an office at Bell Labs and carpooled for many years. After he retired a few years ahead of me we would go on bike rides together and play Euchre with our wives and frequently have meals at each other’s houses. Gene and Carol’s daughters babysat for us. Gene will be very much missed.
