Obituary for Kathleen Marie Mills

Kathleen Marie Mills 1965-2018

Kathleen Marie Mills

07/03/1965 - 07/21/2018

Kathleen Marie Mills, 53, of Westerville, Ohio, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend and devoted aunt was born July 3, 1965 in Springfield, Ohio. A daughter of D’esta (Hammond) Smith and the late J.B. Smith. Kathi peacefully departed this life on Saturday July 21, 2018.

Lovingly known as Kathi, she was a graduate of South High School and Clark State Community College. She was employed by JP Morgan Chase in Bank Card Services.

Kathi was a devoted mother and grandmother to her 2 daughters, Lindsay and Kay, and grandson, Gabriel. Not only would she go above and beyond for her own but she would also embraced friends as family. She was actively involved in many charitable events and participated to make a difference big or small. Whether she was walking a 2K for breast cancer or donating her clothes the “Dress to Success” program for women in need, Kathi had no limits to giving. She never met a stranger and was always willing to help those in need.

Kathi always made time to visit her mother D’esta, which was one of her favorite activities to do. She always stated “ No one will take care of my mom like I do”. They would have long talks and laughs to reminisce on the good times past and present. A simple trip bargain shopping with her mom would always put a smile on her face.

Kathi had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spontaneous adventures with her best friend, Lashawn, whether it was a cruise, concert, or play. When she wasn’t on the phone with Lashawn, laughing and joking, she would love video chatting with her grandson, Gabriel, a simple smile and “Hi Grandma” would be greeted with a cheesy smile back and a “I love you Boochers!” (her nickname for him).

Kathi will be missed by all who knew and loved her, near and far.

Her father, J.B. Smith and sister, Janeena Smith proceeded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories by Her daughters, Kay with her fiance Rose Molina and Lindsay with her fiance Lennart Juanico and her grandson, Gabriel, whom are all of Chicago, Illinois. Her mother, her sister, Kristeen Smith and brother in law, Grady Smith, Her nieces Lauren and Jillian Smith, whom are all of Westerville, Ohio.

Kathi's family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM, Saturday, July 28, 2018 followed by a Celebration of her Life at 11 AM Saturday.

In lieu of flowers we are requesting donations to be made to www.Donatenow.heart.org which is the American Heart Association.
