Obituary for Anita Heaton

Anita Heaton, age 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 following a year long battle with cancer.  She was born on August 6, 1947 to Rev. Dana and Evelyn (Hole) Heaton in Piqua, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by brothers Timothy (Amy) Heaton,  Christopher (Cathy) Heaton and Douglas  (Kim) Heaton.  She was a loving aunt to nieces Lisa Heaton, Bethany (Michael) Hoblet, Shannon (Greg) Long, Kelsey Heaton and Megan (Cole) Rush and nephews Gregory (Angela) Heaton, Jason Heaton, Nathan Heaton, Matthew Heaton and Kevin (Emily) Gonyer.

Anita was a graduate of Otterbein College where she made lifelong friends with her housemates, the “Guest House Girls”, with whom she spent time sharing memories and continued friendship. She was also a member of Theta Nu sorority. She spent most of her life in Colorado where she enjoyed skiing and hiking.  She had a great appreciation for nature and particularly loved the mountains, aspen trees and the beautiful columbine flowers. She was employed by the YMCA Camp of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado and retired from the FAA in Denver, Colorado. 

 

There will be a visitation (10 am)  and service (11 am)  on Friday, September 8^th at Church of the Master United Methodist, 24 N. Grove Street, Westerville, Oh.  The service will be live-streamed on You Tube at https://youtube.com/live/31j2raKMXwY?feature=share.  The graveside service will be at 2:00 in Fletcher Cemetery, 8245 Casstown-Fletcher Rd, Fletcher, Ohio 45326.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Central Ohio or The James Cancer Research Hospital.
