Derek Joseph Maher, 28, passed away on June 21, 2023, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in the embrace of his loving family.

He was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Janine and Kevin Maher. The family soon moved to Lewis Center, Ohio. Derek was a 2013 graduate of Olentangy High School where he was a member of the In the Know team. He was the inspiration behind Every Kids Playground, a universally accessible playground for children of all abilities in Liberty Park (Powell, Ohio).

Derek was a video game enthusiast, whether it be watching or playing. He was always trying to expand his knowledge, watching many documentaries. This made him nearly unbeatable at Jeopardy. He was the 2022 Family Holiday Trivia (“Travia”) Champion.

Derek is preceded in death by his grandparents, Elizabeth and Walter Maher and James McCambridge. He will be forever missed by his parents, Janine and Kevin Maher; brother, Travis Maher; sisters, Cara (Chase) Letizia and Kelly Maher; grandmother, Jayne McCambridge; and many other loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
