Obituary for Thomas Cholley

Thomas Cholley 1942-2022

Thomas Cholley

07/04/1942 - 01/18/2022

Thomas Phillip Cholley, 79, passed away on January 18, 2022 in Westerville, Ohio. He was born July 4, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Thomas will be greatly missed by his wife, Beverly Cholley; son Jeffrey (Karen) Cholley; daughter Susan (Chris) Hammond; Grandchildren Mitchell, Jordan, Amber, & Cormac; He is further survived by some cousins and many friends.

Thomas was preceded in death by his Parents; Walter and Lois Cholley; Brother Jack Cholley; Son Thomas P. Cholley II; his Grandparents, and many Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, and Friends.

Tom graduated from John Marshall High School in 1960. He then attended The University of Toledo, and received a Bachelors in Business Administration. He loved his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha, and was a football player from the 8th grade all the way through college. He enjoyed a long career for over 30 years for Marathon Oil Company.

Tom and Bev met on a blind date in college. They recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. Not a day would go by without him saying, “I love you” to his wife Bev, even in his later years of declining health and 7 major surgeries.

He was a member of Quest Vineyard Church Westerville and formerly of Christian Community Church. He taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and taught lessons on “how-to forgive.” It was very important to him to love God first and foremost. He had a love for God’s truth and prayed for himself and all his family and friends daily.

Tom was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State football. For many years, Marathon Oil was a big sponsor of the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians baseball teams. They were his favorites and he loved taking his 3 kids to numerous games. He even got to throw the first pitch one year for the Reds! He also loved games like playing cards, monopoly, cribbage, and chess.

Tom enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida. He always had a story to tell. He was a talker and was excited to meet new people. In High School, he was chosen as the “funniest guy.” Everyone was his instant friend. You could always depend on him; he was loyal, dedicated, faithful, honest and gentle. He strived to show kindness and effortlessly cared for everyone. Even while receiving care, he would always say “thank you.” We are all so blessed to have had Tom in our lives for as long as we did.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday January 28, 2022 at Quest Vineyard Church, 4877 Central College Rd., Westerville, Ohio 43081. Memorial Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday January 29, 2022 at Quest Vineyard Church with Pastor Ross Adelmann officiating.
