Suzanne Mary (Walsh) Kopf of Westerville, Ohio, age 69, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 24, 2019. Susie was born on April 18, 1949, in Bancroft, Iowa. She grew up in Iowa, lived in Michigan, and moved to Westerville, Ohio, where she raised her family and was a long time resident. She was well-known for her artistry as a baker, creating thousands of delectable delights for people throughout the years, including cakes for Woody Hayes and Colo the Gorilla (Columbus Zoo), gingerbread houses for St. Stephen’s Community House fundraisers, and numerous treats for The Ohio State University. She especially loved spoiling her grandchildren with lavish birthday cakes and treats. Susie had a vibrant personality. She enjoyed playing cards and games with her family and reading mysteries. Susie will be greatly missed by the many lives she has touched throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edmund J. Walsh, her mother, Dolores M. Walsh, her brothers Thomas G. Walsh and Joseph V. Walsh, and her nephew, Edmund J. Walsh. She is survived by her husband of nearly 48 years, John B. Kopf, Jr., of Westerville, Ohio; her daughter, Rebecca S. Price, of Remington, Virginia; her son, John B. Kopf, III, and his wife Erin of New Albany, Ohio; her son, David M. Kopf, of Westerville, Ohio; her four wonderful grandchildren: Alexander Price, Anna Kopf, Owen Kopf, and Ian Kopf; and 7 loving siblings: David Walsh (Joan), Steven Walsh (Linda), Kevin Walsh (Anita), Keith Walsh, Kirk Walsh (Teresa), Tim Walsh (Pam), Michelle Morman (Joe). She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and benevolent in-laws.
Family and friends may call from 9:30 AM-10:30 AM Friday, February 1, 2019 for a viewing at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Parish, 313 North State Street, Westerville, Ohio 43082. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:30 AM, with committal at St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 South High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio 43137 at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Fr. David Gwinner Celebrant.
