Obituary for Phillip Jose Martin

Phillip Jose Martin, Sr., age 53, was born August 9, 1964 in Cleveland, Ohio. On Monday, July 23, 2018, he was called home to be with the Lord.

Jose retired from the City of Columbus Department of Sanitation, and was currently working at Dent Magic.

Jose was a gentle giant with a smile that could light up any room. He was known for his a cool calm demeanor, his witty punch lines, and his wise counsel. He loved traveling, fishing, singing, music, playing his guitar, fast cars, and photography. But most of all, he loved spending quality time with his children.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents Sarah and Roosevelt Mays; father Willie Moore; grandparents Ewell and Jessie Henderson; aunt Barbra Kelley; and nephew Diante’ Everhart.

Jose is survived by four children Phillip Martin, Jr., Taylor Martin, Tiffany Martin, Morgan Martin, granddaughter Santana Martin; Fiance’ Monica Costello; six brothers Samuel Martin, Robert Smith, Larry Jones, Cottrell Marshal, Jeffery Marshall, Bimby; six sisters Sherry (Billy) Frazier, Deborah (Ellis) Smith, Vickie Martin, Jessie (Mark ) Williams, Lynette Martin, Wendy Marshall; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family will receive friends from Noon to 1 PM Monday, July 30, 2018 at HILL FUNERL HOME followed by a Celebration of His Life at 1 PM Monday. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery.
