Obituary for Joan Kint

Joan K. Kint passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018. She died peacefully in her home in Westerville, Ohio, surrounded by her family. Joan was born in Jackson, Michigan, the daughter of John E. and Thelma L. (Miller) Rumler, where she graduated from St. Mary High School. In 1965, she married Edward L. Kint of Jackson and moved to Columbus, Ohio where they enjoyed 52 years in marriage with a lifetime of close friends and memories together. In her work, social and family life, Joan was a caregiver who thrived on people. Her fulfillment came from helping those around her. Joan spent time working with everyone from students to seniors at St. Pius X, Devry Institute, St. Ann’s Hospital, Heritage Tower and Wesley Ridge. She was an active member of St. Pius X and more recently St. Paul Catholic Church. Her great passion was being a grandmother. Joan is survived by her own caregiver and loving husband Edward L. Kint, children Jodi (David) Perino and Jason (Karen) Kint; five treasured grandchildren Marissa, Kathryn, Nicholas, Elliot and Andrew; her soulmate sister Linda (Thomas) Neesley and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her dear brothers John and William. In 2016, Joan set out to bike “a few miles” in the Pelotonia to raise money for the James Cancer Center and in a metaphor of life she triumphantly completed 25 miles. In lieu of flowers, donations to the James can be made in her name for the 2018 Pelotonia (pelotonia.org) where she is registered as a “Virtual Rider” and her family will be celebrating her ride of life together. There will be no calling hours. Service and burial will be private with final rest at the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lewis Center, Ohio. Family has entrusted Hill Funeral Home with final arrangements. Joan’s final written wish was “please do something special for someone else.”
