Obituary for Billy Birchem

Billy A. Birchem, age 88 of Westerville passed away on September 30, 2014. Bill was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran. He retired after 28 years from AEP. He was a member of Genoa Baptist Church and Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxillary. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Opal Birchem, son Jon Birchem and sister Betty Pickard. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ruth; son David (Karen) Birchem; grandsons Michael (Sherry) Birchem and Michael (Kate) Cline; sister Viola Kytta; 5 great-grandsons Josh, Zach and Gabe Birchem and Nate and Birch Cline; many nieces and nephews and the beloved family dog, Calvin. Bill loved The Lord and shared his faith with many. He loved fishing at the Outer Banks. He was a history buff and animal advocate. Friends may call 11AM to 12:30 PM Saturday at HILL FUNERAL HOME, 220 S. State St., Westerville where services will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday. Pastor Warren Hilderbrand officiating. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to the Delaware Humane Society.
