Obituary for John Rohal

Born July 28, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, son of John and Mary (Wolk) Rohal who have preceded him in death.  Also preceding him in death are sister Phyllis Grable and daughter Nadine Spencer (Jim).  Survived by wife of 71 years Mary Mallchok Rohal, sister Audrey Murphey, sons John W. Jr (Debby Feurer) and James N. (Cindy).  Also survived by grandsons Andrew (Sarah) and Zachary Spencer, granddaughters Melissa Lupher (Brach), Kristen Schiros (Nathan), Danielle Spoon (Cory), Kayli Winterfeldt (Aiden), Molly Rohal (Mustafa Nusraty) and Tracie Steinke (Matt), as well as 11 great grandchildren.

He was a graduate of West Tech High School and Fenn College of Cleveland, and the Southern Police Institute of the University of Louisville.  John served in the US Navy, was a retired Captain of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and retired Assistant Director of the State Medical Board of Ohio.  Charter member of Wayne County Lodge F.O.P., Past President of S.P.I. Alumni Association, Kentucky Colonel, Lt. Col. Aide-de-Camp Alabama State Militia, Senior DeMolay, DeMolay Legion of Honor, 72 year Mason, member of Blendon Masonic Lodge, member of Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Past Potentate of Aladdin Shriners, charter member of Shrine Provost Unit, life member of Northeast Shrine Club and honorary member of many other Shrine temples, units and clubs, member of the Royal Order of the Jesters and Cabiri.

The majority of John’s life was spent in service to others.  He enjoyed playing golf and travelling with his wife Mary. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation in John's name to Shriner's Hospital for Children or St. Anns Hospice.
