Obituary for Jack Lane

Jack Waldo Lane born 12/18/1923 passed peacefully on 6/24/2023. He was born, raised and spent his life in Westerville, Ohio. He was drafted out of high school for military service for WWII. After an outbreak of Spinal Meningitis at Camp Swift in Texas, he was honorably discharged and sent back home. He married his wife of 54 years on 6/26/69 and had a son 2 years later. He retired from Columbus & Southern Ohio Electric Co. in the early 1980’s after a successful career of 39 years.

Jack had a love of cars and could fix anything. He also was an avid dog lover and enjoyed spending time with his family. In his early years he enjoyed traveling to Mexico, The Bahamas and fishing trips in Canada. Later in life, he took his wife and son to North Dakota to Marilyn’s parents’ farm.

Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife Marilyn Dolezal Lane, son Jack Jay Lane (Megan) and dog Molly. He was preceded in death by parents William “Cy” Lane and Consuello “Lulu” Lane. Also preceded in death by sister Betty Thomas Lane, uncle David Raymond Lane, Marilyn’s parents Henry and Sylvia Dolezal; as well as many other cherished relatives and friends. Jack was loved by all who knew him and will be forever in our hearts.

Visitation will be held at HILL FUNERAL HOME on Thursday June 29, 4-6pm. A service will be held at HILL FUNERAL HOME on Friday June 30, at 10:30am.
