Obituary for Pamela Murphy

Pamela Murphy 1952-2023

Pamela Murphy

01/19/1952 - 06/17/2023

Pamela Sue Stahl-Murphy passed away peacefully at her home in Westerville, Ohio Saturday, June 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Pamela, youngest daughter of Louis J and Dorothy F Gerber was born January 19, 1952, in Mansfield, Ohio. Pam affectionately referred to by Louis as “Little Sweetheart,” graduated in 1970 from Malabar High School, where she could often be found leading the school musical.  Upon graduation she moved to Columbus and married Darrell Alan Stahl, September 17, 1972. The two created a picture-perfect life together with their three daughters, Kary, Dana, and Kelly Stahl. They were members at Central College Presbyterian Church. Through her marriage to Darrell, Pam was s devoted wife and mother, playing an instrumental role in the development, growth and success of Mid-Ohio Auto Supply, the family business. Following Darrell’s battle with cancer and untimely death in 1989, Pam remarried William R Murphy and gained two bonus sons Scott and KC Murphy and continued to raise her family in Westerville.

Pam’s life was a tapestry woven together with vibrant colors and fabrics. She was the consummate hostess and the life of every party. From raucous Buckeye tailgates to epic holiday celebrations, she was always up from a good time and wherever she was she wanted people to be around her. She led a dynamic life, enjoying tennis, kayaking, tap dance battles and boating at Lake Erie and Sanibel Florida. She was a renowned scrabble champion a.k.a “the commissioner” as well as an avid online shopping enthusiast, reality TV aficionado and an excellent cook. Pam always enjoyed a health debate on varying subjects from world politics to the New York Yankees. As a fierce animal lover Pam raised dozens of pets, too many to even name favorites. Pam was as tough as nails and often exclaimed that nothing could scare her, she had three daughters! We are she is rejoined with her late husband and brother “the three amigos” and definitely creating shenanigans. She will be missed dearly for her sparkling blue eyes, infectious laugh, and smile but even more so for being a loyal, protective, generous, and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Murphy of Westerville, her children Kary (Charlie) Stahl of Hurst, TX, Dana (Kevin) Matlak-Koetz of Lewis Center, Kelly Vavrek of Westerville, Scott Murphy of Littleton, CO and KC (Bridget) Murphy of Sunbury; grandchildren Darrell and Drew Matlak, Madison Koetz, Chloe Vavrek, Allie and Brooks Murphy; sister Penny (Bob) Weldon of Lexington KY, two sisters-in-laws, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darrell A., and her two brothers Nicolas J and Richard L.

Per Pamela’s request, no funeral or formal memorial service will be held.
