Richard Tom Besser

01/30/1941 - 02/27/2022

Richard Thomas “Tom” Besser, 81, of Lewis Center, OH (previously resided in Pickerington for 34 years) passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 27th. He was a loving husband to Linda (Bernard) and they shared 40 happy years of marriage.

Tom was born in Conesville, OH, January 30, 1941 and graduated from Westerville High School in 1959. He was employed at Lucent Technology (formally Western Electric and AT&T) as a circuit board tester where he made many long-time friends. He retired after 40 years.

As a teenager, Tom worked with his dad on a Sunbury farm raising cows and thoroughbred horses and tending to the fields. He also had a love of sports cars and enjoyed drag racing his silver ‘57 Corvette convertible where he was often the victor. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with family, working in the yard, camping, boating and fishing. He will be remembered for his work ethic, kindness, generosity, integrity, and strength.

Preceded in death by his father, Myrl Besser and Louise, and mother, Eileen (Fiecoat) Moyer and Ray, uncle Doug Fiecoat and nephew Mike Gribben. Survived by his loving wife, Linda (Bernard) Besser, daughters Terri (Besser) Finley and Scott of Phoenix, AZ, and Stefanie (Morgan) Mowrey and Jeff of Galena, OH, grandchildren Aiden and Brenna Mowrey, and sister Melanie (Besser) Gribben and Jim of Ashland, OH.

Tom’s family would like to thank the Ohio Living Sarah Moore Home and Capital City Hospice staff for the outstanding care they provided Tom.
