Obituary for Sloane Swanton

Sloane Swanton 2020-2021

Sloane Swanton

03/05/2020 - 09/14/2021

Sloane Elizabeth Swanton was born on March 5, 2020. She came into this world bringing joy to all around her, bringing her infectious smile and grabbing the hearts of those she met.  She could stop you in your tracks with just a wave, warming your heart in an instant. Though her time with us was small, she left a huge mark on this world. She loved playing with her sisters and snuggling with her parents. Her face would light up just from hearing Cora and Quinn’s voices. Even when she wasn't feeling well, she was always up for some cuddle time, high-fiving, or waving. She was so proud of herself when she learned something new and loved to clap when we cheered for her.  Bath time was always a favorite for her, she loved to splash and slide around on her belly. She loved petting and chasing around our cat, Charlie.  As a family, we loved to walk and take hikes together. She would hang out in her baby carrier with her Mommy, sometimes even sleeping through a whole hike. She could not resist taking a nap on her Daddy in the middle of the day.  We have the best videos of her learning to walk, toddling straight to her sisters and playing in our living room. She also loved climbing the stairs when no one was looking and would giggle when we found her.   She would even give us an ornery look when we called her a stinker. She had the most ticklish feet and the absolute best giggle. Life is better because she was in it, and she will be deeply missed. While her time with us was too short, she fought like a champion against a nasty brain tumor and inspired all who loved her. We hope that through her death, doctors and researchers can work to find a cure for Pediatric Chordomas and Sloane's legacy will live on in all those children who survive because of her.

Sloane leaves behind a tremendous hole in the hearts of her family: Her adoring parents Sarah and Mathew Swanton; Her loving sisters Cora and Quinn Swanton; Her Uncle Dan and Aunt Kate Dziak; her cousins Branik, Adler and Koen Dziak; her Uncle Adam Swanton, Aunt Amy Mullen and cousins Nora and Theo Swanton; and her doting grandparents Bill and Fredi Swanton and Rick and Mary Dziak.

In lieu of flowers, we please ask you consider donating to the Chordoma Foundation, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, National Pediatric Cancer Foundation and A Kid Again.
