Obituary for Jonathan Shanbrom

Jonathan Shanbrom 1979-2024

Jonathan Shanbrom

09/20/1979 - 05/09/2024

Jonathan Martin Shanbrom, 44, died at his home in Blacklick, Ohio on May 9, 2024. Jonathan was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 20, 1979, to Ron and Eileen Shanbrom.

Jonathan was a lover of nature and of life; often taking bike rides in Westerville, Ohio and greeting many fellow riders and walkers. He would stop to recognize the beauty of nature and his surroundings. He also enjoyed spending time with family and meeting up with friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and engaging them in thought-provoking conversations. He is known for his kindness of heart, infectious smile, quirky humor, and curiosity as he continually searched for the meaning of life through biblical and scientific research.

Jonathan was a graduate of Westerville North High School (1997), the Cordon Bleu Culinary Academy in San Francisco, and Columbus State with a major in business and entrepreneurship. His entrepreneurial spirit brought him to own a Food Distribution Business called Jonny’s Good Nature.

Jonathan is preceded in death by his grandparents Edith and Jack Sheahan, and Rose and Irving Shanbrom; as well as his two uncles, Michael and Thomas Sheahan, his Aunt Florence Purnell, and his cousin Daniel Sheahan.

Jonathan is survived by his loving parents Eileen and Ron Shanbrom and sisters Erin Crum, Kristina Meyer and brothers-in-law Chase Meyer and Jason Crum. Six loving children were proud to call him Uncle Jonny: Noah, Elise, Ethan and Cassidy Crum, and Jocelyn and Dylan Meyer. Jonathan is also survived by his two aunts, Patricia Sheahan and Judi Sheahan, his Uncle Glenn Purnell, and dozens of cousins.

Jonathan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held on May 20, 2024, from 9:30 -11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, located at 220 South State Street, Westerville, OH 43081. Please dress business casual. The service will be Live Streamed on the Hill Funeral YouTube Channel.

We ask that you help us memorialize Jonathan by sharing your stories of him with us so we can continue to carry on his memory.

In lieu of flowers, Jonathan would have appreciated trees being planted in his name at the Arbor Day Foundation or a donation to your favorite animal charitable organization. Jonathan loved both animals and nature.
