Dr. Susan M. Holland, aged 72, passed on December 23 after a 15-month illness. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama and had been a resident of Westerville, Ohio since 1978. Her family were the loves of her life, most especially her husband of 52 years, Earle Holland, and their sons, Kevin (Jennifer Dutiel) and Ryan (Emily Holland), and four grandchildren whom she adored to the moon, all whom survive her. She is also survived by her older brother Frank Bianco (Sandy Bianco), as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother Larry, her sister Veronica, and her parents Santo and Antoinette Bianco.
She had an illustrious career as a pioneering and passionate educator, mostly in the Westerville Schools. She earned her bachelor’s degree in special education, her master’s degree in gifted education, and went on to earn her doctorate in technology education. She was also selected as a Presidential Distinguished Teacher, and was a National Board Certified Teacher.
Visitation will be held at Hill Funeral Home in Westerville, Ohio on January 3 from 4:00 - 7:00pm, with eulogies beginning at 6:00. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on January 4 at 10:30am.
