my cousin is 9 years older than I am, but I lived about five blocks from her home. I have some good memories
spending time over there, especially the fish pond with a bridge. I think Uncle Joe made that but I am not sure. It sounds like she had a very full and happy life. May she rest in peace.

Obituary for Mary Ann Mudd

Mary Ann Mudd 1931-2022

Mary Ann Mudd

10/10/1931 - 12/07/2022

Mary Ann Mudd, a long-time resident of the Westerville community, passed away on December 7, 2022. She was 91 years old.

Mary Ann was born on October 10, 1931, in La Crosse Wisconsin, the oldest of three children born to Joseph and Marie (Roubik) Sinniger. Mary Ann attended Holy Trinity School, Aquinas High School, and La Crosse State Teachers College (now University of Wisconsin-La Crosse), where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 1953.

Mary Ann loved children. First as a teacher of young minds in elementary school, then as a stay-at-home mother of four, volunteering in schools and being involved in her own children’s activities, and then finally as the grandmother of David and Catherine. She met her future husband, Robert Mudd, while teaching in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They met at a square dance lesson. Following their marriage on August 10, 1957, they lived in the Milwaukee area and had three children, Mary Beth, Joe, and Eileen. In 1962, they moved to Ohio, where their fourth child, John, was born. In 2022, Mary Ann and Bob celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Mary Ann lived the Catholic faith through compassion for others, which was one of her many strengths as a teacher, mother, and wife. She was able to overlook, forget, and forgive many things. Bob and Mary Ann were members of St Paul’s Catholic Church for 60 years. She sang in the Resurrection Choir for a number of years providing music for parish funerals.

Mary Ann loved music all her life. She learned to play the viola at Holy Trinity, was in the Aquinas orchestra, and also played with the Milwaukee Catholic Symphony. Mary Ann was a founding member of the Westerville Civic Symphony where she played viola for over 35 years. Mary Ann and Bob were long-time members of the Westerville Promenaders and enjoyed many square dance conventions across the country.

Mary Ann enjoyed being outdoors. In the summer of 1955, Mary Ann worked at Yellowstone National Park and returned the following summer even though she had already met Bob. While raising their family, Mary Ann and Bob vacationed and camped across the United States. When Bob retired in 1994, they purchased an RV and continued traveling, visiting all 50 states, going to many national parks, and even drove the Alaska Highway. When they finally sold the RV, Mary Ann could still be found walking in the wooded backyard of the family home where they lived for 50 years. She enjoyed her morning cup of coffee at the kitchen window, watching the birds and squirrels, and keeping an eye out for the neighborhood herd of deer.

She is survived by her husband, four children and their spouses: Dr. Mary Beth Mudd and Michael Barr of Westerville, Joe Mudd of Sunbury, Eileen Mudd and Mark Garavaglia of Westerville, and John and Michele Mudd, and grandchildren, David and Catherine, of Hillsboro, Oregon.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Westerville Civic Symphony, Pontifical College Josephinum, or Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
