Condolences

Condolence From: Gail Gupton, Westerville, OH
Condolence: I had only known Don for 2 years, coming from Georgia when I sold my house and car. I needed rides to church and the church sent me to Don. He picked me up every Sunday a year and then invited me to stay in his house as a companion for the rest of the time. I have never known a finer man. He was always so sweet and caring that I will never forget him. He completed my life and I believe I completed his.

Condolence: I've only known Don for 2 years since coming here from Georgia but he was one of the sweetest men I've ever known. He was kind and thoughtful to me and funny also. I will miss him. We went to church together for two years that I've been here. I learned in my short time knowing him he had many many pilot friends. I heard many stories from him about his flying days! He was my friend definitely and a joy to be around! It's hard to believe that he won't be with us anymore. God is taking care of him!

Condolence From: Paul Leskovyansky, Dennison, OH
Condolence: My deepest sympathies to Donald's family.
Donald and I shared the love of flying and had a number of mutual acquaintances.
We live on the property in Dennison where my wife's father grew up and access it by right-of-way through the property where he grew up.
We always enjoyed the visits that he made to the old homestead with Nancy and his sister. Don's sister took a liking to our daughter Tori and brought her some candy and crafts to enjoy.
I know Don will be so glad to be together with Nancy in the presence of Our Lord and Savior.

Condolence: Colette and I will miss having Don, Nancy and his sister visit us here on Canary Road in Dennison.
We live on the property where my wife's dad grew up and access it by the right-of-way through the property where Don and his brother and sister grew up.
One of my flight students in Kutztown PA was a son of one of Don's frequent co-pilots at TWA, so we shared the love of flight and seeing others learn to fly.
Our most sincere condolences to his family and friends and we hope that Don and Nancy are together in the presence of our Lord and Savior. God Bless them both.

Condolence From: Kathy Samuelson, COLUMBUS, Ohio
Condolence: I always enjoyed seeing Don out at CMH or at pilot meetings, and also having his son Alan as an instrument student. Don was also a speaker at some of our 99s meetings and always knowledgeable and entertaining. I few with him a couple times, and he was a terrific, accomplished pilot. He will be missed.

Condolence From: Paul and Becky Chatel, Westerville, Ohio
Condolence: We would like to offer our condolences to your family . We lived next to Don and Nancy on Massey from 1994-2006. Don was our best neighbor by far . We enjoyed his friendship through the years . Impressed by his service and his humbleness. He talked fondly about his family . He loved his garden and we think one of the secrets of his longevity was cutting that big yard with his push lawnmower LOL/ even in the heat ! Anyways , he was a special man for sure and thanks for his service and he will be missed . Rest In Peace . Paul and Becky Chatel

Condolence From: Joanne Greenman, Blacklick, OH
Condolence: To the family and friends of Don,
I was so sorry to hear of Don's passing. I am a fellow church member and although I didn't know him well, I was so impressed with his firm stand to always be at church this past year during the pandemic. Our church closed for in-person services last March. Eventually we began to hold services via Zoom, but without fail, Don would go to the church and sit in his car and either listen to a service from Boston or join our Zoom service once we started having them. He also was eventually able to enter the building and sit a distance from those conducting our service on zoom. He never wavered in his belief that church is where he belonged on Sunday mornings. I'm so glad he got one service back in the sanctuary on Feb 21 before he moved on.

I loved that he also, even at 92, still contributed work towards our landscape - using the leaf blower among other things. His kindness to everyone was so apparent and his love of church, priceless. He is loved and will be dearly missed by all of the members.

I know he is soaring with the angels! With love, Joanne
