 Family will receive friends Sunday, October 18, 2020 at HILL FUNERAL HOME, Westerville. IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING CALLING HOURS: Due to Covid 19, EVERYONE wishing to attend calling hours MUST call HILL FUNERAL HOME at 614-882-2121 between 8:30 am and 5 pm to reserve one of the 30 minute time slots starting at 1 pm until 2:30 pm Sunday, October 18, 2020. Followed by private memorial service at 11 am Monday at Kingwood Memorial Park. NO EXCEPTIONS. Only thirty registered people will be permitted in the building at a time. This is necessary to protect the family, our staff and everyone wishing to attend. Services will be lived streamed at 11 am Monday.Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Sam was a great friend to all when we would visit at Sam's Bar. I will alway have fond and funny memories. So sorry for your loss and you are in my prayers.

Golden Sammons Jr. (Sam), 76 of Delaware County passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday October 13, 2020 after a long battle with dementia. Sam was born in Mingo County West Virginia on March 24, 1944 to the late Golden Sammons Sr. and Lorraine (Parsley) Sammons. He moved with his family at the age of 12 to the Columbus area. He served in the U. S. Army from 1962-1964 at Fort Sill Oklahoma. After the Army he started a plumbing career and owned his own plumbing business. In his 30’s he became a bar owner. He owned several bars throughout his career, his favorite being Sam’s on Rt. 23 in Lewis Center where he enjoyed making many friends. Sam’s hobbies were stock car racing, going to NASCAR races and collecting historical cars. He is preceded in death by his sister Irene Saba, Brother Arlend Sammons, son Gary Lee Pyle, and beloved friend Bonnie Thomas. Sam is survived by his son Scott Sammons (Doug Ellenburg) of Nashville, TN, daughter Valerie (Dan) Rowe of Johnstown, OH, sisters Elizabeth (Bob) Moore of Fairview, NC and Betty Sue Sammons of Columbus OH. Granddaughters Hailey Sammons, Chloe Rowe, and Nicole (Tim) Bowman and great grandsons Ford and Tide Bowman and many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to The Alzheimers Association of Central Ohio at ALZ.or .
