Obituary for Dolores Van Sickel

Dolores VanSickel, age 89, peacefully passed away on September 27, 2020 at Friendship Village of Columbus.

She was born in Akron, OH, on June 30, 1931.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Dolores is survived by her children Alan VanSickel, Amy Beard and Kathy Cull, grandchildren Adamm VanSickel, Jessica (Igor) Simunovic, Renee (Nathan) Ware, Katie Beard, Joseph (Robyn) VanSickel, Victoria Cull, Richelle VanSickel, and Brandon Cull, great-grandchildren Ashton VanSickel, Miles Braden, Berlynn Beard, Lilly VanSickel, Brandon Cartledge Jr. and Howl VanSickel and her siblings, Sheryl and Micheal Parker. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Eugene VanSickel and her parents.

Through the years, Dolores was an avid gardener who in her free time enjoyed reading, painting, sketching and pottery. Dolores enjoyed volunteering with different committees. She proudly graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor’s in education. Prior to receiving her degree, she worked as a Secretary then transitioned into teaching. Dolores spent many wonderful years traveling alongside her husband to places such as Alaska, China, Ireland, Italy, and Turkey. She was a woman of many talents who loved and served her family.

At the request of Dolores, no funeral services will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Hills Funeral Home in Westerville, Ohio. Donations in honor of Dolores can be made to Salvation Army, WOSU, Habitat for Humanity, and the Mid-Ohio Food Bank
