Virginia Ann (Parrish) Jordan died suddenly at her residence in Friendship Village of Columbus Wednesday, May 13, 2020. She was 96.

Virginia was born March 31, 1924 to Russell and Marie Parrish in Alliance, Ohio. She was second of four children and the only girl. Virginia was a lifelong reader and learner. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mount Union College when she was 20 In the late 1940’s Virginia met Carl Jordan of Ashland, Ohio. The two were married and had three daughters. Virginia (or Ginny as she came to be known) was a stay at home mom and church volunteer. In the 1990’s Virginia was instrumental in starting Stephen Ministries, an outreach program, at Church of the Master United Methodist Church in Westerville.

In her early 40’s Virginia took classes at Otterbein University to obtain her elementary teaching certification and eventually earned a Master’s in Education from The Ohio State University. Virginia began teaching elementy students with Westerville City Schools. She spent more than 20 years teaching at Cherrington Elementary School.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Marie Parrish and two of her brothers, Arthur and Marvin Parrish. She is survived by her brother Floyd Parrish, her sister in law Margie Parrish, her daughters: Karen Ash (Joe), Myra Clark (Scott) and Shirley Jordan (Randy Harrington), her grandchildren: Richard Ash (Halyley), Heidi Ritenour (Nick), Suzanne Ash, Emily Reilly (Tyler), Whitney Harrington and Lee Harrington, great grandchildren: Sophie, Laynie, and Quincie Ash and Abigail and Carter Ritenour, nieces and nephews and hundreds of lives she touched during her lifetime.

Virginia had 96 years of caring, loving, teaching – oh, how she loved to teach – learning and filling the world with laughter. Thank you for all your love and laughter. You, Virginia Jordan, shall be missed by all who knew you. We love you. Rest in Peace.
