Arrangements

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020.  Friends may gather from 2:00 -3:00p.m. with service to begin at 3:00 pm at Hill Funeral Home, 220 South State Street, Westerville, Ohio 43081.  We invite everyone to wear either scarlet and gray for the Buckeyes, or Cincinnati  Reds gear,  Bob's favorite teams.

We are deeply saddened to learn of Bob's passing. We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
Bob will be missed by all who knew him, especially the "Eastmore Gang."

Robert K. Mellquist, age 75, left this earth on Sunday January 19, 2020 with his loving family by his side.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Darlene; son Erik , wife Emily and grandchildren, Kate and Jack; son Roger , wife Megan and grandchildren Ashton and Nora; daughter Heather Mellquist Lehto and husband Erik Lehto.  He also leaves behind sister Bronwyn Mellquist, husband M. Roe Smith; sister Jocelyn Robison, husband Ron; sister-in-law Helen Mellquist predeceased by husband David; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a large loving extended family.

Bob settled in Columbus and taught math at the Eastmoor for over 30 years.  He was an avid Ohio State fan and served as usher and ticket taker for both the football and basketball teams for nearly 50 years. He was a constant presence at Gate 23 at The Shoe, where he greeted everyone with his heartfelt smile. Bob looked forward to Christmas every year, where for many years he brought joy to countless children as he played the perfect jolly Santa Clause at City Center Mall.
