Obituary for Donald Smith

Donald Myron Smith, 96 of Columbus, formerly of Westerville, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 at Kobacker House.

Don was born in Elyria, Ohio on April 29, 1923 to Julian and Florence (Haines) Smith. Graduate of Elyria High School and Western Reserve University (cum laude). Member of Beta Alpha Psi (national honorary accounting fraternity). He was a S/Sgt in The Army Air Corps during WWII. Member of AACS Alumni Association. He retired from Columbia Gas of Ohio as Assistant Treasurer. Lifetime member and former secretary/treasurer Ohio Gas Association. Member of The Church of The Messiah, U.M., Westerville.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth E. Survived by his daughters, Nancy Jean Smith and Dianne Ruth (Rick) Martin; Grandsons, Daniel S. (Sandra) Martin and Christopher (Tamera) Martin; great grandchildren, Caroline, Guy, Ashton, Kaitlyn, Noah and Charlee Ann; Sister, June (Jim) Jirik: numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 10 to 11 AM, Thursday, January 23, 2020 at The Church of The Messiah, U.M. 51 N. State St., Westerville where services will be held at 11 AM Thursday. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery.
