Obituary for David VanMeter

David VanMeter 1951-2019

David VanMeter

01/27/1951 - 05/04/2019

"David Edward VanMeter (Super Dave), age 68, passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on January 27, 1951 in Columbus, OH. Dave was the son of the late Edward VanMeter and Patricia Siegfried. Dave, a graduate of Worthington High School, was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was a good man with an ornery personality, a deep, bold voice that could capture anyone’s attention, and a sense of humor that made every single person feel like they’ve been friends with him for years. His family referred to him as “A Lion and a Lamb”. A serious, gentle man who lived his life with a fierceness and intense confidence in everything he did. Above all, he was a kind, sensitive soul who cared deeply for all of those around him. He was also the most loyal Cleveland Browns fan you could ever meet.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29-years Amy VanMeter; children, Adam (Alyssa) Burcher, Alison Burcher, Lindsay (Tyson) Wever, Max (Hannah Ewald) VanMeter; brother, Doug (Kary) Siegfried; grandchildren Kalli Burcher, Arlowe Burcher, Atlas Burcher, Waylon Wever; and many other friends and loved ones.

The VanMeter Family would like to thank the wonderful team of doctors and nurses at the James Cancer Research Institute for their compassion and support.

Per Dave’s request, there will be no service or memorial, just a Celebration of Life at his favorite watering hole, Cheers Too. Please come have a beer honoring Super Dave on Friday May 24th, from 5-7 pm.
