Evelyn Eileen Elkins, age 93, formerly from McConnelsville, Ohio died peacefully Friday, March 1, 2019 in Marengo Ill. She was born August 8th 1926 in Columbus, Ohio. She was the daughter of Gladys Mae and Harold James Wears. Evelyn was the oldest of 12 brothers and sisters. She met her husband Bill and married on July 16, 1952 in Franklin County Ohio. She was blessed with four children, nine grandchildren,11 great grandchildren and many pets along the way.
Evelyn lived throughout the United States and Germany before residing in Marengo, Illinois. Her love for the Ohio State football team was unconditional. Evelyn was known for her compassion, her patience, gardening, the love for her family and the love of God. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32- “ And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another , just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Evelyn loved good food, socializing and shopping. She enjoyed being with friends and family and had a wonderful smile that would light up the room.
Evelyn wanted to remind everyone to be good to each other and to take care of one another. She would want us to remember that we are all created in God’s image.
Evelyn has left behind four loving children: Debbie,( husband Roger), James, Billie ( wife Holly), Bobbie (Husband Edward); Nine grandchildren, Misty, Edward, Jeremy, Christopher, Brandon, Cory, Monica, Caitlyn, Kirk, and eleven great grandchildren; Her Brothers Kenneth ( Sally) , Douglas (Doris), Sister Diana (Bill), Sister In law Sandra, Patty.
Evelyn will be preceded in death with her husband Bill. Her Mother, Father, and siblings Dorthy, Harold, Betty, Wilda, Virgina, Junita, Mary Louise, and Glenn Harlin and many other relatives and friends.
Please join us celebrating her life Saturday morning 10 AM Saturday March 9, 2019 at THE HILL FUNERAL HOME, 220 S. State St. Westerville, Oh where friends may call ne hour prior to services.
