Family will receive visitors Wednesday, January 16, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Hill Funeral Home, 220 S State Street, Westerville OH 43081. Additional visitation will be from 11 AM to 12 PM on Thursday, January 17 with funeral service at 12 PM followed by burial of ashes at Pioneer cemetery, Westerville Oh. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in Brandon’s honor to the Eyes of Freedom - Lima Company Memorial.

Brandon James Mentzer, age 30, Of Westerville Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, January 11 after a hard fought battle for two weeks at St Ann’s hospital.

Brandon was born July 15, 1988 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus Ohio. Brandon was devoted to his family, Marine family, and friends, he never met a stranger. Brandon graduated from Westerville Central high School and Delaware N. Career Center in 2006. He received his Ohio certification for firefighting. Brandon was a member of Church of the Messiah Methodist Church. Brandon was a proud combat veteran and served our country with the USMC Lima Company 3/25. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2010-2011.

Brandon is survived by his loving and devoted parents James (Jim) and Julie (Parsons) Mentzer; sister Amy Mentzer and brother Zachary (Zack) Mentzer; Grandmothers Joanne Parsons and Maria Mentzer; nephews Carson and Roghan; Aunts and Uncles Jamie and Stan Weaver, Jim and Martha Parsons, Rosemarie and Rich Grondalski, Cheryl and Ron Keller and Johnny Mentzer; Cousins Nicole, Mollie, Kim, Alex, Kelly, Mandy, Jake, Lucas, Colton, Tessa, Caleb and Ella. Brandon was preceded in death by his grandfathers John Mentzer and James (Jim) Parsons.
