Obituary for Betty Rose Morgan

Betty Rose Morgan passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019. She is survived by her son Allan (spouse, Marcia) of Bedford, MA, and daughter, Coleen Miller (spouse, Steven) of Westerville, OH. She also has four grandchildren (Kristin, Heidi, Kyle, and Andrea) and five great grandchildren (Nova, Rex, Dominic, Annabelle, and Simon). Betty Rose lived a long and interesting life. She grew up during the Great Depression and began working at the age of 12 in Rochester. Her father, William J. Beckler, entered politics and was elected an alderman for the City of Rochester. Under his influence, Betty Rose became interested in politics and also ran for the local school board, but did not win. Betty Rose lived in Mentor, Ohio, for many years with her beloved husband, Edward T. Morgan, a Chemical Research scientist at Addressograph-Multigraph Corporation in Euclid, Ohio. She was a working mom, employed by Active Plumbing Supply Company as a bookkeeper. As the only woman in an all-male place of business, she actively worked to get equal pay and was at the forefront of the Women's Movement but didn't know it.

When Edward retired, the couple moved to Beverly Hills, FL. Betty Rose and Edward loved golf and were in several golf leagues in the area. Their Beverly Hills community often held dances where Betty and Edward danced the jitterbug and always became the center of attention because of their smooth and well choreographed-like style.

After Edward passed away, Betty Rose moved to Westerville where she lived near her daughter for seven years. Betty always loved music and, while living in Westerville, Ohio, was a member of the choir at the Westerville Senior Center. While in elementary school, she won a scholarship to the Eastman School of Music travelling alone by train/ bus for piano lessons. She also enjoyed playing bridge, Euchre, and other card games. In her 80s Betty took painting lessons and enjoyed watercolor and acrylic painting. She was an avid reader. The Westerville library was her friend.
