Condolence From: Denise (Raab) Cooke, Westerville/Key West
Condolence: Leymaster/Alcott family,
She was truly a wonderful English teacher and an amazing person. One of my happy memories has been running into her at places in Westerville over the years and being able to chat with her. She will be truly missed by so many people. We have all been fortunate to have known such a bright kind intelligent woman. I can only imagine the great legacy she has left with all of you. Keep the memories close :)

Condolence From: Kathleen Moretti Slaven, Westerville, Ohio
Condolence: I was honored to speak at Mrs. Leymaster's Memorial Service. It was amazing, but not surprising, to hear what so many of her family, friends, colleagues, and students had to share about her. She was much more than a wonderful teacher---she was a wonderful person. They do not make too many people like Marilyn. I was blessed that she shared a little part of her life with me. For that, I will forever be grateful. She will always have a special place in my heart.

Condolence From: Kathy Matto, Galena, OH
Condolence: Oh my, when I first met Marilyn as she and Mike toured our house, a floor plan they built directly behind us, we seemed to have an immediate connection. The ensuing years brought us so many memorable events: birthday and anniversary dinners, a dinner/book club for many years, trips to Lake Erie, Malabar Farms, Marietta, pizza at the Cheshire Market, New Years Eve celebrations, binge watching a couple seasons of Downton Abbey(she adored all things UK), and a special trip to Morritt’s Grand Cayman a decade ago. To say we will miss her is an understatement. Enjoy your eternal rest, dear Marilyn. Heartfelt sympathies to Mike, Jennifer, Sophie, Michael, Cam, and Katie .

Condolence: Mrs. Laymaster was a positive influence in my life. She taught my English class at Mifflin. What an excellent teacher and caring person. I will always remember running into Marilyn at the beauty shop many, many years after high school and she talked so fondly about Mike and her family; you could tell how much she loved them. I will also fondly remember the
get together the Mifflin girls had with several of our Mifflin teachers. What a wonderful time catching up with Marilyn who made us all feel so special. Marilyn was a wonderful lady that I will never forget. My sympathy and prayers to her family.

Condolence: Dear Family of Mrs. Leymaster,

My heartfelt condolences to you all. Over all my memories of having Mrs. Leymaster as my English teacher twice at OHS so many years ago, there is one I carry every day. She taught us the phrase "a lot" is always 2 words. Whenever I type that phrase, I think of her. It might be trivial, but it means A LOT to me! She was a great lady, one I will remember always. Blessings to you all. Rest well, Mrs. Leymaster. And thank you.

Condolence From: Susan Gillam, Fort Myers/Columbus, Fl/Oh
Condolence: Dear Mike, Jennifer, Michael, Sophie, and grandchildren,

I think I loved Marilyn from the first time I met her sixty years ago. She was fun, funny, smart (although she would have wanted me to put that first) and a great friend. I can feel the emptiness in my life from here. Over the years we may not have been together all that often, but the times we were, were some of my favorites. I have a wonderful list of memories.

Please know that Bill and I are so sorry for your loss.
Susan

Condolence From: Diana Giordano DeGreve, Crestline, Ohio
Condolence: I am very sorry to hear of Mrs. Leymaster's passing. Marilyn Leymaster was my Sophomore English teacher at Crestline High School in 1964. Her English class was always very interesting; as were the pearls of wisdom that she shared with us concerning the understanding of literature. I am so glad that she and Mike, my Sophomore World History teacher, were able to come to our 50th Class reunion in 2016. We were fortunate to have had many good teachers, such as the Leymasters', at Crestline in those years.

My deepest condolences to the Leymaster Family in your loss.

Condolence: Dear Leymaster Family:

As a parent from the years when OHS was a one-building, K-12 school district, we remember those educators who inspired our children to be their best. She was loved, respected, and admired. And she will be missed........

Condolence: Dear Mike, Jennifer, Michael, Sophie, and Grandchildren,

Jim and I are so deeply saddened by your sweet Mother's passing. When I first moved down here to work at OHS, your Mom invited me over for lunch one sunny afternoon. I didn't know a soul here in Columbus, and she made me feel right at home. From then on, over the past 34 years, Marilyn has been one of my dearest friends. She helped me, constantly, during my formative years as a new educator, and she continued that nurturing spirit even after she retired. One of my saddest days teaching at OHS was the first day of school AFTER your Mom and Bonnie retired; I could feel the lack of their presence--the place simply was not the same, and everyone knew it. Today, that same feeling comes over me. Marilyn enriched all of our lives with her knowledge, her wit, and especially her love for teaching and for life. May God bless all of you as you struggle to adjust to this new normal, and rest assured, that while she is no longer physically present, she will be with you, and all of us, forever through her positive influence on our lives.
