Obituary for Barbara Leeson

Barbara Leeson 1930-2018

Barbara Leeson

08/10/1930 - 12/26/2018

Barbara J. (Shockey) Leeson, 88, of Westerville and Lakeside, Ohio went to her heavenly home on December 26th, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 wonderful years, C.E. “Bill” Leeson, Jr., parents James and Peggy Shockey, infant brother Howard James Shockey and brother David Gene Shockey.

She is survived by her loving family – daughters Cynthia Ann (Philip) Honsey of Grove City, Patricia Sue Leeson of Westerville; grandchildren Barbara Allison (Scott) Albrecht, Laura Elizabeth (Tyler) Kempf, Andrew Edgar (Diana) Honsey;great-grandchildren Lillian and Christian Albrecht, Nolan, Peter and Levi Kempf, and 2 new great grandsons due in 2019.

Barbara was a graduate of Sherrard, WV High School and the Barbizon School of Fashion in New York City. She modeled in New York prior to her marriage to Bill. After they settled in Columbus, she continued her career in modeling, both free-lancing and on staff at the Lazarus Department Store. After many years of modeling, she and another model, Muriel Gauthier, formed Style Signature, Inc., offering advice on personal style in their classes. She was a charter member and officer of the Fashion Group International and the Fashion Group of Columbus.

Her fraternal affiliations include Beta Sigma Phi, Thea Court #5 of the Ladies Oriental Shrine and Thebes Temple #87 of theDaughters of the Nile.

She was an active member of Central College Presbyterian Church where she served as Elder, choir member and on the Foundation Board.

Bobbie had a great love of music her entire life. She studied voice throughout her teen years and sang in an Oratorio Society and church choirs. She enjoyed the Lakeside Symphony each summer when she and Bill would “move” to their home at Lakeside on Lake Erie. She called Lakeside her “Shangri-La” because of the peace and fulfillment she felt there as family and friends would gather on the front porch.

She had many interests in life, but none as great as her love for her family. She, along with Bill, always said that they had been truly blessed by God to have such a wonderful family!
