Jimmie Stewart

09/09/1933 - 08/21/2018

Jimmie B Stewart, age 84, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2018 surrounding by his loving family at Kobacker House, Columbus OH. He was born on September 9, 1933 in Kiefer, Oklahoma to Thomas and Estella (Goodmon) Stewart. Jimmie was in the Oklahoma Army National Guard and attended East Central College in Ada, Oklahoma before enlisting in the Army in 1955.

On October 7, 1961, he married Nancy Ann Watterson and they lived briefly in Dallas, TX and Sacramento, CA before spending the past 50 years in Westerville, OH. Jim was a Realtor® and a member of the Columbus Board of Realtors® for 40+ years. As a Broker at Re/Max Associates for over 25 years, he was a mentor to many and always willing to share his time and experience with other agents. Jim was an excellent dancer and could dance circles around men half his age. He also enjoyed fishing, taking trips to Canada and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy; daughter Mary Lynn (John) Hohman; grandchildren Thomas and Christina Hohman, sisters Mary Erickson and Judy (Eddie) Wood, brother-in-law William (Barbara) Watterson, sister-in-law Marilyn Hollenbeck and nephews Matt (Buffy) Wood, Adam Wood, Mark (Donna) Hollenbeck, and Kevin (Jessica) Watterson. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Hollis Lynn Owen and a nephew Michael Hollenbeck.

Jim had a great sense of humor and was the best at telling jokes and stories. He will be remembered as someone who was always there in a crisis with no hesitation or thought to his own personal time. His personality and integrity left a mark on everyone he met. He was a connoisseur of the finest Manhattans as long as they had extra cherry juice.

A Memorial Service at Hill Funeral Home in Westerville Ohio will be held at 2pm on Saturday, August 25, 2018 with inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The Stewart Family would like to extend their gratitude to all the caring staff at Kobacker House and the Advanced Heart & Vascular Center at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
