A celebration of Sylvia’s life along with a memorial talk will be given at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 421 East College Avenue, Westerville, OH 43081 on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 7:00 PM.

With Family at her side, Sylvia Ruth (Johnson) Lane died in Columbus, Ohio on March 13, 2018. Born in Jamestown, New York to the late Swan and Ruth (Berg) Johnson on December 27, 1922, Sylvia resided in Ashtabula, Ohio and later in Columbus. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Sylvia dedicated her life to her ministry as well as providing for her five surviving children: Janet Baird of Valley Station, KY, Richard (Irene), Terry (Julie) and Marjorie, all of Columbus, and Daniel of Bakersfield, CA. Also surviving are grandchildren: Robin, David, Michael (MaryBeth) Baird, Keri (Michael) Allen, Julie (Shawn) Bowers, Solomon (Amy) Lane, Rocky (Kristina) Lane, Faith (Scott) Adkins, Sarah (Michael) Rudell, Mark (Lyndsey) Lane, Garrison Lane, and Aubrey (Evan) Pershon. Surviving great grandchildren include Joel and Justin Bohrer, Brooke and Brett Baird, Aleksey Baird, Kamryn Lane, Parker and Kayden Lane, Sebastian Adkins, Carter and Harper Lane, and soon to be born baby (RI) Allen. Great-great grandchildren are Jayden, Addison, and Fallyn Bohrer. Sylvia is survived by a brother, Axel Richard Johnson of Conneaut, Ohio and sister-in-law Irene Johnson of Rome, GA. Sylvia was preceded in death by granddaughter Lori Baird, siblings, Alice Hawes, Eleanor Fusco, Marion Goodyear, Herbert, John and David Johnson, in addition to son-in-law David Baird. Sylvia greatly enjoyed music, playing the French horn at Ashtabula Harbor High School from which she graduated, as well as playing the piano in numerous Kingdom Halls she attended. She enjoyed socializing both in person and by telephone, where she shared her Scandinavian sense of humor with many friends and relatives throughout the country. Sylvia lived and unselfish life, considering the needs of others before herself. She is well remembered.
