Obituary for Robert Sterchie

Robert (Bob) Sterchie 97 passed away peacefully Friday, June 23, 2017 with his daughter and son in law by his side at his residence, Parkside Village in Westerville,  Ohio.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Sterchie, to whom he was married to for 63 years.  He is survived by his daughter Sandy (Brian) Navarro, granddaughters Amy (Jay) Walsh and Jodi (Bill) Rectanus and five great grandchildren.  Bob lived a full life as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  As a treasured World War II veteran he spoke at many schools and events.  He was an active participant in the VFW, Masonic Lodge, Westerville Citizens Police Academy, Westerville Citizens Fire Academy (where he was know as "ladder Bob" for climbing the fire truck ladder at age 92).  He was a kind hearted man who was a friend to everyone he met.  Services to be held at Central College Presbyterian Church, 975 S. Sunbury Road, Westerville, OH. on Saturday, July 1, 2017: Visitation 10:00am in Ballard Hall and Memorial Service will be held 11:00am in Elsworth Chapel. Reception to follow in Ballard Hall.  In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westerville Honor Flight or the charity of your choice.
