A celebration of life will take place Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 2 to 4 PM at HILL FUNERAL HOME, 220 S. State St., Westerville. As Jiff peanut butter was one of Shorty's favorite foods, Jiff peanut butter jars brought to his Celebration of Life will be donated to WARM. Please join the family for light refreshments from 5-8 PM on the lawn at 7110 Worthington Road. (Parking is limited, so please carpool if you can.)

Douglas DuFresne Short, 63, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family in Westerville on June 24th, 2017. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lorna Short, also of Westerville, OH. Douglas is survived by the family he so adored: Jane Short of Vermilion, OH; Dawn (Adam) Bauman of Austin, TX: Ian (Kathleen) Short of Westerville, OH; Caitlin (Ben) LaRocco of Washington, D.C; and Braden (Katie Watkins) Short of Columbus, OH. Sisters Carolyn Short McKenna, San Francisco, CA and Connie (Adnan) Mneimne of Simi Valley, CA; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, 10 grandchildren, loved ones and an abundance of loving friends, fraternity brothers, Rangers and Goalies, from every stage of his life. Douglas was born on June 21, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Westerville High School as student body president in 1972. “Shorty” received his Bachelor of Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1976 where he was a Fiji brother. An offensive tackle in high school and college, football was in his blood. Douglas worked as a teacher, coach, real estate agent and in software sales management. A motivator, influencer, and mentor, many called him a confidant and loyal friend. He was a man who loved his family and friends above all else.
