Obituary for Rockie Young

Rockie D. Young, of Westerville, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2017, at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis D. and Maxine (Brown) Young. Rock grew up in Marion, Ohio, graduating from Ridgedale High School in 1965. After attending The Ohio State University, he began working at Nationwide Insurance. He retired from Nationwide in 2014, after 45 years in IT. He was a loving and supportive husband to Carol Young; father to Andy Young and Erin (Young) Okantey; and grandfather to Aidan Okantey, Cameron Young, Grace Young, and Desmond Okantey. He is survived also by his brother Mark (Carol) Young. He enjoyed gardening and putting up beautiful Christmas light displays at his home near Galena, spending time with his grandchildren, and hosting Sunday and holiday dinners for his family. He loved the family’s pets through the years and took his dog to Hoover Reservoir every afternoon to see the ducks and geese. Friends may call 11 AM to 1 PM Monday April 17, 2017 at HILL FUNERAL HOME, 220 S. State St., Westerville where services will be held at 1 PM Monday. In lieu of flowers, friends and family may choose to donate to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank or the Delaware County Animal Shelter.
