Arrangements

Visiting hours will be held at Hill Funeral Home (220 S. State Street, Westerville Ohio) from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. The funeral service will be held at Central College Presbyterian Church (975 S. Sunbury Rd., Westerville OH) at 10:00 am on Thursday, January19, 2017, followed by burial at Blendon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to the music department of Central College Presbyterian Church, the National Autism Society, or Ohio Health Hospice.

She was our neighbor and Ann's High School music teacher. She will be missed. Our last memory of her was seeing her walk the neighborhood and she came to a neighborhood gathering a few years ago. I(Ann) remember visiting her when I was fighting cancer and her sharing her story with me(1999). She was a beloved teacher.

Nancy Darlene Abshire Wolfe 81, born in McAndrews, Kentucky on June 19, 1935, passed away on January 14, 2017 at Kobacker House Hospice. Darlene was preceded in death by husband Derrill E. Wolfe; parents Arthur and Gertrude Abshire; brothers Ellery B., Franklin P. (Anita), and Arthur E. Abshire (Joan); sister Elva G. Sizemore (Harry); niece Cynthia Sizemore and nephew David Abshire. She is survived by children Danni Elena Diol (Michael), Deanne Wolfe Vallo (Joseph), and Derrill Duane Wolfe (Sandra); grandchildren Joseph and Eva Diol, David and Laura Vallo, Sydney and Sofia Wolfe; sisters Lola and Fae Abshire, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Darlene earned an A.A. degree from Warren Wilson College, Swannanoa, N.C. and a B.S. in Music Education and a M.S. in Music from Ohio State University. She taught vocal music for 25 years, mostly in Westerville Schools; was a principal organist for 20 years and after several years hiatus, associate organist at Central College Presbyterian Church from 1996 to 2015. She was a member of the Central College Presbyterian Church since 1973 and a long time member of their Chancel Choir. She was also a member of the Columbus Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and a lifetime member of the Ohio and National Education Associations. Darlene’s major interests in life were family and friends, teaching, life-long learning, reading, cooking, entertaining, and being outside in nature. And always music: Practicing, playing piano and organ, singing in the choir or singing to and with others. She appreciated the many people who enriched her life and was always aware how much just one person, as guide, advisor, family or friend, could add to one’s happiness and growth. There were many such in her life and she felt fortunate and blessed. Visiting hours will be held at Hill Funeral Home (220 S.
