Edward Reifeis Obituary - Hill Funeral Home
We were so sorry to read of Ed's death. We have some wonderful memories of some wild bridge evenings with he and Barb. Jim was Ed's assistant at Champion. We hope you all have the same wonderful memories to share. Your parents were a great and caring couple. We will remember all of you in our prayers.

Obituary for Edward Reifeis

Edward Reifeis 1926-2016

Edward Reifeis

10/07/1926 - 02/15/2016

EDWARD HENRY REIFEIS, 89, of Toledo peacefully entered eternal rest 15 February 2016 with all of his children caring for him in his final days. Born in Indianapolis, Ed was the second son of the late Otto and Edna Reifeis. He grew up in Indianapolis, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944, serving as a Gunner’s Mate aboard USS Destroyer Escort (DE-188), the O’Neill. After the war, he attended Purdue University and earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering. During that time he also married his high-school sweetheart, Barbara Brown (1947), with whom he shared 61 years until her passing in 2008. Following his graduation, the young nuptials lived briefly in Kankakee, IL and Milwaukee, WI before settling in Toledo in 1952. Ed became a Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, and the Zenobia Shrine Temple. He also began a long career with Champion Spark Plug, retiring in 1985 as Executive Director of Manufacturing. He and Barbara then traveled worldwide for several years. He is survived by his four children: Craig (Kathy), Scott (Lisa), Marc, and Stacy; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his younger brother Robert. His older brother, Otto, passed away in 2014. He will be interred with Barbara in Toledo at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park on 09 April, 2016 at 11am. Following the interment, the family invites friends to join us for a celebration of his life at Maumee River Yacht Club 2735 Broadway St, Toledo, OH 43609. There is a website set up in his honor, and the family is very interested in any anecdotal Ed stories that friends or family can relate. Please visit www.hillfuneral.com and share your memories with us. In lieu of flowers, Ed requested that memorials in his name be made to Shriners Children’s Hospitals at www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/donate.
