Dorothy (Baumbach) Balthaser former Oil City teacher and long time resident of both Warren and Columbus, Ohio passed into eternal life on January 8, 2016. Dorothy was born on July 15, 1922 in Oil City Pa the second child to Earl and Clara Baumbach. She was a graduate of Slippery Rock University and member of the Mu Kappa Gamma. She pursued her graduate work at Penn State University and Otterbein College. After graduation Dorothy taught elementary school children in both Pennsylvania and Ohio. Throughout her life she was very involved with church and involved with church activities. She spent most of her time after retirement as a bible study teacher with her church and retirement centers. One of them being the Pemberville Retirement Center in Pemberville, Ohio. Her greatest values in life were her love of God, family, country and working with children. A firm believer of her faith and truly believed that through God all things were and are possible. She would remind us of this often when she felt we needed reminded of God's everlasting love for us. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family. She was blessed to have shared fifty one years of marriage with the love of her life Richard Balthaser. Together they provided a loving home to their three children Sharla, Janis, and Erlan. Those who knew her were truly blessed to have had her in their lives. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, son Erlan, brother Richard and her mother and father. Surviving are her two daughters Sharla (Mike) White (Columbus, Ohio) Janis (Michael) Houck (Philo, Ohio) her five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, brother Ralph Baumbach (Wilma) Wisconsin, sister in law Rosalie Baumbach (Northwood, Ohio) many nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
