Calling hours celebrating Tom’s life will be Wednesday, September 2, 4-6 pm, at HILL FUNERAL HOME, 220 S. State St, Westerville. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Thursday September 3 at St. Paul’s Church in Westerville.

So sorry to hear about Tom. I worked with Tom at Borden / Hexion.....he was always so pleasant and such a gentleman. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thomas Vernard Barr, 71, died August 30, 2015, at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital after a long illness. Tom was born in Warren, Ohio, and graduated from Harding High School. He briefly attended several universities before serving in the Army from 1968-1970. Following that, he graduated with an accounting degree from Quinnipiac University in New Haven, Conn. Tom became a CPA and worked for Price-Waterhouse Accounting for ten years and for Borden (now Hexion Specialty Chemicals) for 28 years. He ended his career at Borden/Hexion as Vice-President, Taxes. Tom had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed bird-watching, woodworking, and spending time with his family, especially at the annual family vacations in the Outer Banks. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda (Gimbel) Barr. He is also survived by son Dan (Amy) Barr, daughter Colleen (Eric) Nori, and grandchildren Sammy, Roman, and Andre Nori and Kira, Erin, Corey, and Shannon Barr. Tom was also loved by several sisters- and brothers-in-law, along with his nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Helen (Thomas) Barr. Calling hours celebrating Tom’s life will be Wednesday, September 2, 4-6 pm, at HILL FUNERAL HOME, 220 S. State St, Westerville. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Thursday September 3 at St. Paul’s Church in Westerville. Rev. Fr. Charles Klinger celebrant.
