Obituary for Alan D. Seitz

Alan D. Seitz 1954-2023

Alan D. Seitz

12/21/1954 - 12/05/2023

A man with a kind heart died today. Alan D. Seitz, age 68 of Westerville, Ohio passed into the arms of his Lord Tuesday, December 5th after a long illness. He spent most of his working career in banking, and recently retired from Huntington Bank as a Senior Vice President. He also worked at Franklin University as an adjunct professor. Alan was born in Tiffin, Ohio on December 21, 1954 to Richard D. Seitz and Geraldine(McMeeken) Seitz, both deceased. He graduated from Tiffin Colombian High School in 1973 and from Capital University in 1977 as Summa Cum Laude. He earned his MBA at Capital in 1983. While at Capital Alan joined the KIL Fraternity. He grew up loving sports, playing tennis, golf, baseball, and basketball, which led to his coaching youth baseball, basketball, soccer and lacrosse after graduating. He had a love of music. He joined the musical choir, Choirsters and played the trumpet in his high school band. Alan’s love of music included showtunes, which he enjoyed singing often and loudly.

Alan married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Ann George on August 30, 1980. Together they brought two children into this world, Matthew and Anna(Mark). Beloved grandchildren include Henrik Alan Seitz, Liliana Jolene Seitz and Mairin Winifred Seitz(mother Madeline Hoff).

Alan enjoyed playing golf, even with his wife Kathy, and they are active members of York Golf Club. Special memories were when he and Kathy played Pebble Beach and Spyglass Golf Courses. Alan loved traveling to Hilton Head Island, California and Maine with this family, and any other place where there was a good golf course. He was an avid Cleveland Guardians, Browns, OSU football, basketball and Blue Jackets fan. In the last few months Alan made a special effort to reconnect with many of his grade school, high school, college and professional friends. Rarely did a day go by that a friend did not stop by to enjoy conversation or watch a ball game, golf match or tennis match.

St. Andrew’s Anglican Church was an important part of Alan’s life. He was their Treasurer and on their Finance Committee. He was an active member of the choir, vestry and Bible study. The family would like to thank The OhioHealth Hospice Care staff, especially Julie, Natasha, Bethany, Sarah and all the staff at Kobacker for their care and support.

They would also like to thank their many friends for their help, love, support in these last four months.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Friday, December 15th at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 7521 South Olde State Road, Lewis Center, OH 43035. The Reverend Christopher Klukas serving. A reception will be held following the service at York Golf Course, 7459 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43235

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Andrews Anglican Church or Ohio Health Hospice
