Jean Sayre Estes, 85, passed away May 29, 2015. She was born in Buchtel, OH, daughter of Harvey and Virginia (Bowen) Sayre. Preceded in death by son Mark Yates; brother James Sayre, husbands Jack “Doc” Coffindaffer, Joseph “Blackie” Estes and step-son Mark Estes. Survived by daughter Janice Yates (Jon Schaer); brother Jack Sayre (Ruthie); sister-in-law, Ruth Sayre; grandchildren Nicole, Lindsay and Christopher Yates. Jean was employed at Western Electric for 15 years before moving to North Carolina where she owned a gift shop associated with the “Smokey Mountain Scenic Railway”. She was a member of the “Beautification of Bryson City” committee and “Bryson City Women’s Club”. She moved back to Ohio to be near her children and grandchildren. She loved to golf, garden, cook and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Most recently she resided at Whetstone Gardens and enjoyed her lunches with the girls and her most favorite chaperone, Shawn. She was a longtime member of the Columbus Chapter of the “Ladies Oriental Shrine”. Many thanks to the staff at Whetstone Care Center and Gardens who became her other family and cared for her so well and the staff of Medical Professionals at Riverside Methodist Hospital who made her transition from this world peaceful.
