Obituary for Cheryl Ann Story

Cheryl Ann Story 1948-2023

Cheryl Ann Story

05/21/1948 - 01/09/2023

Cheryl Ann (Witteman) Story passed with grace and peace on January 9, 2023 at home with her loving family surrounding her.

Cheryl was born in Minot, North Dakota on May 21, 1948, the daughter of Lyle (Bud) and Alice Witteman.

Upon graduation from Mohall High School in 1966, Cheryl attended and graduated from the Professional Business Institute of Minneapolis. She was employed at the Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota.

Cheryl met Bob at the Max Bass Dance Hall in North Dakota. It was love at first sight and they were married on June 24, 1967. They began their family when Bobby their 1stson was born on February 1, 1968, followed by Chris on June 15, 1970 and Scott on June 8, 1971.

Cheryl’s family was always her number one priority. She loved being a mom to 3 very busy, soccer playing boys. Creating her own family traditions while raising her family was very important to Cheryl. She volunteered at the boy’s schools, enjoyed participating and being the president of the PTO, and den mother as well as taught CCD at Our Lady of Perpetual Health.

Cheryl also worked as a Department Secretary for Mt. Carmel West Hospital for 27 years. She truly enjoyed working in the medical field and thoroughly loved her time at Mt. Carmel. She retired in 2013 and enjoyed traveling often with her friends and family. She adored being a Grandmother to Dakota, Cameron, Tyler, Kaylin, Sara and Conor. She never missed a sports game, play, recital, choir ensemble or any event that involved her grandchildren.

Bob and Cheryl were married for 55 years. They rarely spent a moment apart. They loved traveling, showing their sons, daughter in laws and grandchildren what an adventure life can be. Cheryl’s favorite annual vacation was to Emerald Isle, NC with her family. She loved the beach, warm weather and spending time with her family while making memories that will last us a lifetime. She taught us the value and importance of an everlasting marriage to the love of her life as well as creating a foundation of traditions, trips and adventures for her sons, their wives and children. She was a proud Catholic and took great pride in teaching her boys the importance of a life steeped in faith. Her home was her haven and always a welcoming place for us all. Her calm nature and positive outlook on life was a gift for each of us and taught us what was most important in life. She was without a doubt, the happiest when surrounded by her family.

She was very loved and will be deeply missed by her husband, Robert (Story) of Westerville, Ohio, her three sons, Robert (Dawn) Story of Gahanna, Ohio, Christin (Chrissy) Story of Buckeye Lake, Ohio and Scott (Missy) Story of Westerville, Ohio, her sisters, Cathy (Robert) Horvath of Fairbault, MN and Dawn (Todd) Grothe of Underwood, MN; her brother, Tom (Diane) Witteman of Mohall, ND; her 6 grandchildren, Tyler (Story), Conor (Story), Dakota (Story), Kaylin (Story), Cameron (Story) and Sara (Story) and many nieces and nephews.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Alice Witteman and sister, Candace Kowitz.

Visitation will be at Frank E. Hill Funeral Home, 220 South State Street, Westerville, Ohio, Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. The funeral mass will be at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 313 State Street, Westerville, Ohio, Friday, January 13, 2023 at 10:30am.
