Obituary for Robert Wraley

Robert Wraley 1936-2023

Robert Wraley

07/29/1936 - 01/03/2023

Robert Harold Wraley (Bob), born on July 29th, 1936 in Schoals, Indiana, age 86, died on January 3rd in his Westerville home after his third battle with cancer.

An Indiana boy raised on fishing and basketball, Robert served in Korea before moving to Ohio with his wife. There he raised a family, cultivated friendships, and had a long career with various airlines, including Lake Central, Alleghany, and USAIR, before spending a decade of his retirement working for Westerville Public Schools. A voracious reader, Bob spent his true retirement reading on a lawn chair in the driveway, listening to John Prine, eating cheese at the open refrigerator, loving on his grandkids and great-grandkids, chatting with neighbors and his many friends who stayed in touch online, and cussing out one of Westerville's oldest trees as it dropped heaps of black walnuts on his lawn.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Olive and Robert; his brother and sister, Gerald and Roberta; and his son, Jeff. Bob is survived by his loving wife Brenda; his daughters Beth (Dan) Sweig, Lori (Tony) Trobridge, and Karin Barbee; his grandchildren Chris Hunt, Alyssa (Kyle) Siebold, Taylor Trobridge, Ashton Trobridge, Pearl Barbee, Frank Barbee; his great-grandchildren Aiden, Avery, Hudson, and Holden; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends may call 10:30 to 11:30 AM, Friday, January 13, 2023 at HILL FUNERAL HOME with services at 11:30 AM, Friday followed by a private family interment at Blendon Central Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Central Ohio.
