Condolence: I just found out today about John and I'm deeply saddened. I'm the lady who drove by his home frequently to honk & waive. I first saw John during the pandemic. He was sitting on a chair waiving. He touched my heart during a tough time. His smiling face I'll never forget. I was worried the last couple of weeks when I didn't see him. I regret not meeting him but am glad to know him through all the heartfelt messages. He was amazing to all and a blessing to his community. God bless you all especially to his mother and family and thank you to all who let me get to know John through your messages.

Condolence From: Bob Jacoby, Westerville, OH
Condolence: This is a huge loss. Speaking for my entire family and the DeSales community we morn the loss of John. A truly gentle soul.

Also, my wife Kathy and I are part of the Westerville community that John so deeply loved! His unbelievable memory and detail of everyone he knew was a gift from God.

At DeSales John adopted this same loyalty when his brother Doug coached at DeSales. John became a huge DeSales fan! However, legend had it that he never failed to wear his Westerville South shirt under his DeSales gear! I believe this to be true.

We joked because John claimed direct responsibility in specific events of some of our most treasured accomplishments as a team at DeSales. Truly I must say that the reality is that John (Captain) actually did make a real and genuine difference in our DeSales' successes because of what he added to the program in the form of togetherness and fellowship. The players loved the Captain dearly! With many of the Captains limitations he never once failed to be there for us! His constant presence was amazing. His unconditional love set an example for all!

None of this would have been possible without his amazing brother Doug who made it his life's mission to always keep John under his wing and have his back! John was amazing because of you Doug! What a gift you were to each other!

We all would like to extend our most sincere condolences to Doug and his beautiful Mother! We are all just so blessed to have known the Captain and call him our friend! Our prayers are with your whole family and friends as we remember the life of John as one that really shines in God's light! God's blessings to John as he enters God's Holy Kingdom. He has set an example for all of us on what is true and important in life!

My fond memories of him are filled with joy as he always loved for us cousins to come around so we could talk about DeSales!!! There is no doubt that he will be missed greatly by his family, friends and all of those lives he has touched. May he be among the angels and the saints. Love, cousin Kathy Antle Stark

Condolence From: Tom Ullom, Westerville, OH
Condolence: So sorry to learn of Johnny's passing. My condolences to all his family and friends. Always loved talking with him, the "Captain!" From Westerville football and basketball to class reunions, always a staple at the Westerville Recreation Unlimited Golf Outing where this year he was awarded the Grand Volunteer recognition! Johnny was always excited to have a conversation. Loved seeing him sitting outside his home on Otterbein Avenue and honking to him, waving to everyone. I will miss Johnny....
God speed my friend!
