I got to know Linda over the years doing her hair and was blessed by her beautiful spirit. She was truly one of the sweetest people. She taught me a lot about forgiveness. I feel so fortunate to have known her. I will miss her dearly

Obituary for Linda Lee Smith

Linda Lee Smith 1956-2022

Linda Lee Smith

02/04/1956 - 09/15/2022

Linda Lee Smith passed away peacefully on September 15, 2022 at 11:15am in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 66. She was surrounded by family in a room filled with love. Born on February 4, 1956 to Ralph and Jerry Limes, Linda grew up in Clintonville and remained in Central Ohio her whole life. A graduate of Whetstone High School and The Ohio State University, Linda worked as a fund accountant for her entire professional career until her retirement in May 2022.

In 1978, Linda suffered a tragic car accident with her two sons, Brad and Derek, rendering her a paraplegic. For the next 44 years, she persevered through numerous challenges, including breast and thyroid cancer. She continuously endured with grace, grit, and determination, to remain as independent as she possibly could. She always did so with positivity and a smile on her face. Linda immediately lit up any room she entered and made an impact on so many people. To say she was an inspiration is an understatement. She was a joyful presence who dearly loved her family and friends.

Linda is survived by her sons, Brad and Derek; daughters-in-law Sarah and Emily; grandchildren Norah, George, Adeline, and Evie; siblings Cindy, Carol, Don (Ellen), Lori (Dale); many nieces and nephews; and countless other beloved family and friends. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Jerry Limes, and her sister, Sue Leonard.

Due to the loss of her father to Alzheimer’s disease, Linda was passionate about advocating and donating to the Alzheimer’s Association. Linda participated in many “walks” in support of the cause and had planned to participate in an Alzheimer’s walk in September 2022. As such, contributions in memory of Linda can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
