Obituary for John Stansberry

John Stansberry 1962-2022

John Stansberry

07/20/1962 - 08/22/2022

John E. L. Stansberry, age 60, of Gahanna, Ohio passed on August 22, 2022 in Columbus, Ohio. John was born in July of 1962. His father John T. Stansberry proceeded him in death on December 17, 1979 and his mother Betty J. Stansberry on September 16, 1992. He is the loving husband to Kimberly A. Stansberry, and beloved father of Aaron D. Stansberry, Kira L. Stansberry and Keith A. Hester. He is also survived by his loving brother, Daniel Stansberry, and his caring wife Vernese Stansberry.

John lived in Ohio for the majority of his life. In his younger years, he was a member of the United States Air Force and had been stationed in Guam and Vandenberg AFB, California. John was an avid fan of science fiction and fantasy media, including: Star Trek, Lost in Space, Babylon 5, Doctor Who, and Lord of the Rings. He also had a love for classic cars, having restored his own 1966 Mustang GT with his wife and was a frequent attendee of the London, Ohio Cobra Car Show. He worked for the Defense Information Systems Agency as a Telecommunications Specialist for 35 long years of diligent service to his country. John absolutely loved classic music and would frequently share this passion with his family by attending concerts with them, including artists: Journey, Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benatar, Pink Floyd and many, many others. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and ensured his family found joy and honor in the same. Most notably, John was a loving pet owner and spent much of his time with his Brittany Spaniel, Belle, out in nature, looking for their birds and squirrels together. John was a good Samaritan and would stop what he was doing to help anyone in need and was very proficient in striking conversation with strangers and passersby.

John has left behind a wealth of loving family, friends and acquaintances in his wake, all touched by his caring and comedic heart. A public viewing will be held at Hill Funeral Home in Westerville, Ohio on August 29, 2022 between the hours of 4pm and 7pm EST. All are welcome to attend to pay their respects as we celebrate a beloved life well lived.
