Suzanne Carol Neal (nee Benadum), age 83, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on August 20, 2022 in Cleveland, Ohio. Suzanne was born in June of 1939. Her daughter Elizabeth Alexandra, preceded her in death on June 4, 1991. She is the loving mother of Stephanie Heideman (David), and beloved grandmother of Molly Heideman and Emma Heideman , each whom she adored and loved with all her heart. She enjoyed sending her grand-daughters special letters and often sent them her favorite recipes to try. She taught her oldest granddaughter to crochet. She is also survived by her loving sister, Judith A. Ballantyne, of Columbus.
Suzanne lived in Ohio for the majority of her life. In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crafting. She worked as a school secretary for the Worthington City schools. She belonged to the Lorraine Chapter #1 of Ohio Eastern Stars for over 50 years. She worked for and retired from Otterbein College as an administrative secretary. She enjoyed spending time on campus and seeing the theatre productions that the students at Otterbein performed. While working at Otterbein College, she accomplished four years of education in her sixties. She enjoyed walking, going to the movies, and going to lunches with her friends in Westerville. She enjoyed going to the Westerville Senior Center for special activities and made many new friends there. She loved being with her family for special celebrations and holidays. She moved to Cleveland in recent years to be closer to her family.
So many of her friends have passed and many still remain. She was grateful for each of them. In lieu of flowers, she requested that you please send flowers or send a special note to someone that you love and care about very much. The family also suggests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org in her memory. Suzanne’s family would like to thank the staff at Arden Courts of Westlake and Promedica Heartland Hospice for the loving, compassionate care that she received from them.
A private family funeral will be held in Columbus to honor her life and memory.
