Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Kunze, 83, of Westerville, formerly of Powell, died in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 13, 2022, in Riverside Hospital in Columbus, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on April 13, 1938, in Cleveland, OH, to Ben and Elizabeth Kresnye. Betty grew up in the Cleveland area, and attended The Ohio State University, where she met the love of her life, Henry Leland Kunze, whom she married on February 15, 1958. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1987. Henry and Betty became the parents of three sons, Henry Steven (Allison) who preceded her in death on April 3, 2020. Steven Edward of Plainfield, IL; and Ben Lee (Melissa) of Westerville. Betty is also survived by grandchildren, Henry, Morgan, Matthew, Michael, Connor, Kaylee Jean,  Kaylee Kunze and two step grandchildren Brady and McKenna Stultz.

She is also survived by a brother, Ben Kresnye and his wife, Arlene, of Las Cruces, NM, as well as a sister-in-law, Ellen McNichols of Sunbury, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

Betty and her late husband “Hank” lived in McConnelsville, Ohio, for many years, where they reared their family, and he served as Morgan County Engineer. Betty was very personable and made many friends while living on Airport Road, McConnelsville.
While in Morgan County, the family attended St. James Catholic Church, and Betty worked in the Engineer’s Office for her husband. After his death, she continued to work for County Engineers Jim Waymer and Calvin Parmiter. After moving to Powell over 20 years ago, Betty worked in the office of Joan of Arc Catholic Church until her retirement.
