Marilyn's love of the arts was one we shared together as we grew up in a house full of music and literature. As a little brother I was towed along to watch both Marilyn and Patty's early dancing practices and performances. Later in life she could always be relied upon for hearty discussions, sing-a-longs from Oklahoma to Gilbert and Sullivan to good old down home country and folk music from our Grandparents. Those are times I will remember fondly forever. I was blessed to have a big sister in Marilyn and may God watch over you and may you rest in peace. With our deepest condolences to Jeff, Madeleine & Daniel.
You will always be in our hearts.

Obituary for Marilyn Casto

Marilyn Casto 1954-2021

Marilyn Casto

05/29/1954 - 10/25/2021

Marilyn Anne (Allton) Casto left us on Monday, October 25th at 4:30 in the afternoon peacefully and surrounded by love.

Preceded in death by her infant daughter Katie Scarlett, her father Wayne Allton and mother Louise Allton (Pellenz). Survived by husband Jeffrey Casto (son of Jim and Judy Casto), daughter Madeleine Casto, son in law Daniel Koebler, brother Mark  (Dianne) Peter (Lynn) Michael (Sandra) Brian, sister Patricia (Dave) brother-in-law Michael (Holly), Steve (Patti), sister-in-law Katie (Bill), Meri (Todd), and many wonderful cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, lifelong friends, and her beloved standard poodle Toulouse (Louie).

Marilyn was a light in everyones life that knew her. Her laugh was contagious, her intelligence and opinion fierce, and her kindness unforgettable. She loved the arts from a very early age and grew up dancing and was a member of the Vaud-Villities Productions here in Columbus. After graduating from DeSales High School in the class of ‘72, she pursued a career in the health care industry, and worked for multiple health insurance companies for an impressive career of over 40 years. She retired from Aetna Insurance in early 2020.

Her marriage was a love story of its own - after both the Allton and Casto families moved to Westerville in the late 60s/early 70s they lived on the same street, about 10 houses apart. They didn’t meet until the mid 70s, but as Jeff always said - it was love at first sight. Marrying on August 29th, 1977 - their 44 year marriage became an institution, their stories and love weren’t known without the other.

A dedicated mother to Madeleine, she introduced her to everything about the arts that she loved - from Rogers and Hammerstein and beyond, setting her on a lifetime path and career of theater. But most of all it was and will always be a mother daughter relationship that was incredibly special, unique and forever cherished.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you take that time, money and effort and spend it with your loved ones.
