Shirley was such a pleasure to be around. Our family loved hearing her stories about teaching and her time at Otterbein. She was a light to this world and touched the lives of so many youth at Church of the Master. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers, Blessings, Donna, Tom, Kristen and Kaleigh Rudge.

Shirley Ann Baker, 85, of Westerville passed away on August 16, 2021.

She was born April 5, 1936 in Tiro, Ohio. Shirley graduated in the top of her class from Tiro High School and then attended Otterbein College. Shirley is a passionate educator and servant of God. She spent her career teaching special education in Central Ohio. Upon her retirement from public education, she spent years as a volunteer for her churches Bethel Un

ited Methodist Church and Church of the Master United Methodist. She worked in children’s ministry, campus ministry for Otterbein College, and telecare ministry. She loved spending time with her beloved friends going to various theater productions, Otterbein’s being one of her favorites. She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Daisy Baker, brothers Jim and Bill, and sister in law, Alice Mae Baker. She is survived by her sister in law Margaret Baker, nephews Robert, David, Dick, and Paul Baker, and nieces Christine Searles and Mary Beth Harms. As well as many great nieces and great nephews.

Family will receive visitors on Wednesday, August 18 from 4-6 pm at Hill Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 19 at 10 am at Hill Funeral Home 220 S. State St. Westerville, OH 43081. Internment will be at Oakland Cemetery in Tiro, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
