George Russell Obituary - Hill Funeral Home

Arrangements

George expressed the wish that we not have a service or calling hours at this time due to the rise in Covid cases and the fragile health of two of our family members. There will be a private family celebration of George's life at a later date.

George was my brother-in-law. Although distance kept my husband Charles "Chuck" Johnson and I from traveling much to see George and my sister, Fran, we kept in touch. He was a delightful person and gave so much love to his family. He will be greatly missed.

George Russell 1935-2021

George Russell

12/22/1935 - 08/11/2021

George H. Russell, 85, died August 11, 2021. George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Blanche Russell of Piqua, Ohio. He graduated from Piqua High School, Piqua, Ohio, and attended Manchester College, North Manchester Indiana. George is survived by his wife of 64 years, Fran; daughter, Elaine; son, Brian (Paula); 3 grandchildren: Ian (Angie), Jennifer Steele (Geneva) and Kaylee.

George began his career at Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company in 1957; when Columbus and Southern merged with American Electric Power he joined the AEP Service Corporation where he worked until his retirement. George worked with computers throughout his career, starting as a data processing technician and later working in programming and management. Computers were his hobby as well as his career; he never tired of building and modifying his home computers.

George expressed the wish that we not have a service or calling hours at this time due to the rise in Covid cases and the fragile health of two of our family members. There will be a private family celebration of George's life at a later date.

We would like to express our gratitude for the excellent support, nursing, and respite care provided George and us by his Ohio Health Hospice team, at home and at Kobacker House during the past year.

Friends may, if they wish, donate in George's memory to Ohio Health Hospice, or Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Dr., Columbus, OH 43214, or a favorite charity.
